We also put an emphasis on trusting and respectful interactions, knowing that these lead to real and honest relationships.

We love natural, stimulating and imaginative interactions. We have a huge natural play garden for children to explore, learn and grow in. We also have animals to care for and interact with, as well as growing and harvesting fresh produce. Bloomfields gives children, parents and whānau a high-quality education option in a beautiful rural setting where children are fully involved in a real-world environment. We support children to develop a love of learning and curiosity for life, and embrace challenges and risk-taking in a controlled environment.

We have passion, joy and empathy. We wholeheartedly care about every child and their family. We work alongside children, extending their interests and providing a learning-rich environment that allows them to question and discover the world around them. Most importantly, at Bloomfield’s we smile, laugh and have fun!

Our Programme

Our programme is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum Te Whāriki. We also draw inspiration from the teachings of early childhood specialists Maria Montessori and Magda Gerber’s Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE) programme.

Each day at Bloomfields is different and varied, including a mixture of structured activities and free-play. Daily activities both inside and outside may involve any of the following: planting, harvesting and exploring the garden, music and movement, carpentry, playing with and taking care of the animals, cooking/baking, construction, drama and storytelling, art, creative experiences, yoga, group projects and mat times.

Each child is unique, so we partner with parents and caregivers to identify specific areas of interest and development priorities to create an individual programme of learning.

We start children off on their own journey of sustainability and caring for the world around them. We grow our own vegetables, herb gardens and fruit trees. Our chickens produce free range eggs and we have composting and worm farms. We minimise our use of plastics, collect rain water and choose environment-friendly cleaning products.

Our team also organises special events – such as whānau evenings – for families to spend time in the Centre, meet other parents and caregivers and to discuss your child’s journey with our teachers.

Starting School

We know that the transition to school is a big developmental step for children – and their parents.

That’s why we have a close partnership with our nearby local primary school, Broomfield School. By working closely with Broomfield School we are able to help create a transition-to-school programme for each individual child to make their entry into school, wherever that may be, as smooth as possible and an exciting and happy time.

A big part of this important step is providing children with a rich array of activities, experiences and support at Bloomfields to help them learn and develop the skills needed to feel confident, capable and ready for their transition to school.

Children are also given plenty of opportunities to be involved in all aspects of school life, such as visits to the new entrant classroom and school library, joining together with current students for special events, and watching a performance or sporting event.

Our vision is to create an educational community alongside Broomfield School where children and adults work together to help provide each individual with the skills and knowledge for a future of success.

Our Fees

We encourage you to make a time with us to take a tour around our Centre, so we can customise your child’s programme of attendance and provide you with a full fee’s schedule.

When your child turns three years old, they will be able to benefit from the 20 Hours ECE subsidy at Bloomfields. The higher funding subsidy for children aged three, four or five years can be accessed for up to a maximum of 20 hours per week and for a maximum of six hours per day.

Please contact us to discuss a full fees schedule.
